There was a time when Microsoft prohibited running Microsoft
Exchange inside virtual environments due to the unknown ways by which the
hypervisor-based environment could negatively impact the operation of Exchange.
However, those days are long gone as Exchange Server 2013 and Exchange Server
2016 deployments are increasingly virtualized. Virtual environments allow
Exchange professionals to increase server resources, Exchange Server protection
and migration or recovery tasks in the event of problems. This acceptance of
Exchange into the world of virtualization has taken place as a result of
massive improvements in modern hypervisors coupled with massive improvements in
Microsoft Exchange. Now, organizations using Exchange can easily leverage their
hypervisor investments and implement Exchange just like any other application
in the environment.

This leading to prospective employers wanting Exchange
administrators who know Microsoft Hyper-V or VMware vSphere to support
virtualized deployments. Even if a prospective employer's Exchange deployment
isn't yet virtualized, finding a candidate with virtualization expertise can be
an essential part of an Exchange admin job description. Something to consider
then selecting a training partner for your organization.

VCP certified must complete the "what's new" (V5.5 to V6) training
course and pass the associated exams. Those possessing a valid VCP5-DCV
credential need only pass a delta exam to obtain the credential.

What is ESXTOP?

The VMware esxtop tool provides a real-time view of ESX/i Server worlds. The term world refers to processes running on the VMkernel. The focus on this deep dive will be CPU usage.

There are three types of worlds:

System: The worlds that are needed to perform various system services. These include one idle world per physical CPU that runs when there is nothing else to run on that physical CPU, helper worlds for performing asynchronous tasks and driver worlds.

Service Console: The world for the service console. It always runs on physical CPU0. The service console does not exist on the ESXi server.

Virtual Machine: The world for each virtual CPU. This is the world you look at when troubleshooting.

Also, esxtop displays information about the state of the physical server running an ESX Server. It lists CPU utilization for each physical processor, memory utilization, and disk and network bandwidth for each network and disk device available to the ESX Server machine.
Furthermore, esxtop lists CPU and memory utilization for each individual VMkernel world. Memory utilization is characterized by the type of memory that is being consumed. These CPU and memory statistics let you monitor the resource utilization for each of your virtual machines.

How to use it – a few commands:

Start putty

Enter your esx server details as in the picture and click on Load
Esxtop uses worlds and groups as the entities to show CPU usage. A world is an ESX Server VMkernel schedulable entity, similar to a process or thread in other operating systems. A group contains multiple worlds.

Note: the sum of the NWLD column equals the total of worlds at the top.
Improvements to the vSphere 5.5 Web Client

Following VMware’s update of vSphere with an array of new and improved features, it is likely that Administrators are anxious to upgrade with a view to benefiting. Here then is a summary and details of some of the prime improvements and features.

Summary

The vSphere 5.5 Web Client comes with many important improvements and not least of all -- it is now supported on Mac OS X. There are many improvements in usability such as it supports Drag and Drop operations, refined search criteria through filters and the introduction of new items. It has the ability to create the new 64TB Virtual Machine Disk; vSphere 5.5 is fast in comparison while supporting Firebox and Google Chrome.

Drag and Drop

Drag and Drop option enables Administrators quickly perform bulk actions. When Administrators use this option, then default action begins, thus helping accelerate workflow action. It enables Administrators perform bulk operations easily. Administrators can drag
and drop multiple virtual machines to migrate those machines to the new host.

Filters

Administrators now can use filters to meet specific search criteria. Displayed objects are immediately updated to reflect the specific filters selected. Using filters, one can easily narrow down to the most significant objects. As an example, selecting checkbox filters can enable one to see all virtual machines on a host that are powered on and running a particular operating system.

Recent Items

Administrators spend most of their day working on a handful of objects. The new recent-items navigation enables them to navigate with ease, by clicking on their most commonly used objects.
Even though these updates were considered minor, the changes to what administrators have seen may be considered major!
There are new additions that cannot be performed through the standard vSphere™ Client! That was a sad day for some of us, now we are forced to use the vSphere™ client and the new web client. Regardless our dedicated team has put together some great content and labs in the newly updated VMware vSphere™ 5.1 Ultimate Bootcamp®. They have included the Single Sign-On Service and Inventory service we all need to deal with during an install. These components have both pros and cons, which have been addressed by our technical team! They have also added the improvements made to the storage interaction. And of course they have added labs using the vSphere™ Web Client!
Check out the new outline and feel free to ask experts questions on the VMTraining Forum!

Myself, I am a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) from NT. I also had a few other MCSE certifications that people might be unaware of. I am an MCSE+Security an MCSE+Messaging, and an MCSE+Internet.

Along with the advent of the new Windows 2008 operating system, Microsoft came out with some new certifications and retired the old MCSE. They came out with MCTS and MCITP. Now you might be asking yourself - what the heck are these? They are the lower level Microsoft Certified Technical Specialist and the more advanced Microsoft Certified IT Professional. The problem with these certs is that no one understood them or used them.

During Tech Ed 2009, I worked the door of the testing room and my job was to explain what the certifications were. After 2-3 days of doing this I think finally figured it out what the heck they were and also figured out the upgrade path. WooHoo.

One of the problems with the MCITP was that no one knew about the MCITP and EVERYONE knew about the MCSE. True Story - I had a recruiter contact me and stated that they must have an MCSE in Windows 2008 and I wouldn't qualify because I only had my MCITP in 2008. I got on the phone and explained to them that there no longer is an MCSE for 2008. However; I was told by the recruiter that the customer specifically requested an MCSE on 2008 and they had numerous job seekers with 2008 MCSE in their resumes and basically I didn't know what I was talking about. Needless to say you can't win for losing.

On to the moral of my story. Microsoft finally listened to me and they brought back the MCSE (Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer). Oh wait they didn't. They brought back the MCSE which now stands for Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert.

Side note: I always heard a rumor that using the term Engineer in the title upset people who had their Engineering degrees. I am not sure if this is why they went with Expert or what. Either way the MCSE is back.

Not only did they bring back the MCSE but they also brought back the MCSA (Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate). Also, they included a new MCSM (Microsoft Certified Solutions Master).
Awesome. This sounds much easier. Well....Not so fast. These are the new Microsoft Cloud built Certifications. They still have the other Microsoft Certifications which are the MCITP, MCTS, and MCM

Here is a link to the Microsoft Certification homepage. This is all for my first post on here, but I will be back in a little while to go into more depth on each of these certifications.
